The Crowned Heads Le Careme was a new release at the 2016 IPCPR. The information released at the event divulged that this cigar pays tribute to Marie Antoine Careme, a culinary pioneer in France during the 1800’s.
The embossed band on the cigar was relatively simple but attractive. The wrapper appeared reddish brown and was smooth. Seams were modestly neat and the construction outwardly evidenced a hint of perfection.
Tatuaje released The Jackal in 2015 as an Exclusive Series cigar. This was my second encounter with this shaggy-footed cigar and I was excited to review it! Tatuaje produced 2000, ten count boxes of the cigar in the My Father Cigar factory in Esteli, Nicaraugua.

Sporting a gorgeous Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, this cigar appears near perfect. The seams are difficult to see and the cap blends nicely with the light brown, caramel-colored wrapper. Scents from the wrapper are dry hay and sweet tobacco. From the foot I smell dry hay, wood scents and a little tingle of pepper.
I toast the foot and get the heat rolling on this cigar with peaked expectations following the cold draw. The initial smoke is cool on the palate. Earthy notes, pine, and anise are most evident. The flavors linger nicely, not finishing too quickly.
Visually, this is a beautiful cigar. Light brown in color, the wrapper was free of large veins with virtually invisible seams. Scents of cedar and hay emanated from the wrapper while the foot gave off notes of raisin, spice and cedar. After a perfect punch, draw was easy and tasted of vanilla, hay and mild cedar.
This was my first cigar of the day and I paired it with a black coffee with some floral notes, not an overpowering coffee considering I am reviewing a Connecticut cigar. The wrapper offered me the scent of sweet hay and the cold draw offered a mild, dry hay flavor and the draw was very easy. Cant wait to torch this!
