Villiger San’Doro Claro Review

Sporting a gorgeous Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, this cigar appears near perfect. The seams are difficult to see and the cap blends nicely with the light brown, caramel-colored wrapper. Scents from the wrapper are dry hay and sweet tobacco. From the foot I smell dry hay, wood scents and a little tingle of pepper.

Alpha Cigar Absinthe Infused Review

I toast the foot and get the heat rolling on this cigar with peaked expectations following the cold draw. The initial smoke is cool on the palate. Earthy notes, pine, and anise are most evident. The flavors linger nicely, not finishing too quickly.

Talamanca Machista Review

Visually, this is a beautiful cigar. Light brown in color, the wrapper was free of large veins with virtually invisible seams. Scents of cedar and hay emanated from the wrapper while the foot gave off notes of raisin, spice and cedar. After a perfect punch, draw was easy and tasted of vanilla, hay and mild cedar.

Fuente Opus X Oscuro Oro Review

Unwrapping this cigar, I’m trying not to get my hopes up about this experience. An interesting concoction of brown sugar, raisin, curry, and chili powder is presented on the foot. The wrapper is mottled, rustic, and features the infamous Fuente glue. A cold draw is intoxicatingly sweet with just a tingle of spice pinging the tongue.

The hay from the pre-light inspection comes on strong right away, joined by creamy sweetness on the draw with light black pepper on the finish. The pepper quickly makes its way up front, delivering small amounts of pepper throughout the draw and finish. The finish has been dry on several of the Skinny Monsters; it’s particularly dry on the Tiff.

Cornelius by Cornelius and Anthony Review

Around the one inch mark this cigar begins to pop. Honey, cocoa powder, and nougat throw their weight into the ring in earnest, playing against the pepper and paprika tag team beautifully. Graham cracker and cream soften the sharper notes, making this cigar every bit as amazing as I remembered it. There’s just so much win here for Cornelius and Anthony.

Serino Royale Maduro XX Sublime Review (Prerelease)

Within just a few minutes, honey notes begin to rise to the top in a phenomenal display of sophistication. Mild spice tickles the back of the tongue and throat, but it’s something you have to look for. This cigar starts off very smooth, allowing you to really grasp hold of all the flavors without shying away from it. A retro hale emphasizes that book leather from the cold draw, as well as a convenient store style chocolate chip cookie flavor that I just can’t get enough of.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Jekyll

The Skinny Jekyll starts out with hay and cream notes. There’s a bit of spice on the end, but it’s nothing like the peppery start I’ve gotten from the other Skinny Monsters. The creamy notes are sweet, reminding me of cream soda.

Today we’ll be reviewing the San Cristobal Ovation with Clinton. Super stoked about it, and amped to be here with this outstanding BOTL to provide a well-rounded review for everyone! Clinton described the Ovation last week as his favorite cigar from this year’s IPCPR conference in July. Although I have mixed feelings for Ashton’s San Cristobal line, I’ve only heard great things regarding the Ovation.

Room 101 Johnny Tobacconaut Review

This is one of those cigars that, upon first glance, sends mixed signals. Do I smoke it, or tuck it away in a vault somewhere? To quote lccj from the CigarNoise app, do I ash it or stash it? The Johnny Tobacconaut screams quality while promising a couple plot twists – and yet only 3,500 boxes were produced.

Padron Damaso Review

First impressions? This cigar is light in your hands – dainty, delicate, fragile, you get the picture. Not really uncommon to Padron cigars in general. The wrapper exudes a vegetable and hay aroma, with just a touch of sweet tobacco. The foot produces much of the same, with a roasted coffee sensation. The Domestic Engineer says it smells like, “…a barnyard animal. Like, if you were to go pet a sheep or something. Like wet sheep. Hay?”

Cigar Ink

You’ve probably seen CigarInk on Instagram and Twitter as @cigarink. When we first launched CigarNoise, I had my eye on their custom cigar engraving from the start! Whether it’s a quick giveaway or a personal gift – being able to brand your business, event, or group is just really cool. We talked briefly a little while back, and I was excited to get some CigarNoise sticks made!

Warped Don Reynaldo Review

I’m simultaneously pulling medium-roast coffee, leather, earth, white pepper, and a very creamy undertone — not something that I’ve experienced before. The Don Reynaldo is satisfyingly complex, melding different flavors together over and over to present unique nuances.

Lost and Found Butter Review

First impressions? Opening the package of butter is way more fun that it looks. And it looks about as fun as finding a $100 bill you forgot you left in your pocket. The aroma is fairly interesting coming from the packaging as well as the wrapper and foot of the cigar itself. Up front, it’s very sweet. Smell it a couple more times and it reminds me of a puppy. Good stuff!

Warped Corto Review

Last week I had the pleasure of smoking both the Warped Corto and Futuro right off the truck at my favorite cigar lounge, Governors Cigar & Pipe. I made an immediate appointment with Clinton to do a double review of the Warped Corto this morning. First impression? A Futuro Fuerte.

Roundup: Damaso, Corto, Ogre, Don Carlos, Rothchildes

Here’s the conundrum: I’ve smoked a LOT of new cigars this week and didn’t have time to properly review all of them. Most of them. To compensate, I’d like to do a quick roundup each week of my thoughts on cigars that didn’t get the attention they deserve, but are notable nonetheless.

La Aroma de Cuba Noblesse

Normally I wouldn’t post this review, and I’d wait until I smoked another since my thoughts don’t align with several of my friends that I trust. But you know what? First impressions are important, and in today’s cigar lineup the average consumer doesn’t decide to smoke several of the same cigar before they form an opinion. Sorry Ashton, this one just doesn’t do it for me like the VSG.

Diesel Rage Review

Overall I’d say that the Diesel Rage starts and finishes really well, while everything in between is like a rollercoaster. Sometimes it’s greatly satisfying, other times it’s too bitter for my tastes. An argument could be made that it should be smoked slower to combat the heat, but it never got too hot. And at just over an hour and a half to experience it, I’d say it was a decent pace for this review.

Liga Privada T52 Review

Now that the first inch is officially ashed, the full-bodied Liga Privada T52 experience is converting nicely to a medium body cigar. Well, medium in the mouth yet full when blown through the nose. The coffee is back, regardless of drink, and it’s really reminding me of my favorite drink from the Sirens: Grande Iced Coffee with breve. Or, coffee with Half n Half over ice.

Fratello Review

A few weeks ago, I brought a Fratello home because I saw another upstanding BOTL post a picture of one in the CigarNoise app. Couldn’t resist, the band looked pleasantly unassuming and the smoke looked like a sleeper classic.

Undercrown Shade Review

Smoked one of these the other day at my favorite local hangout, Governor’s Cigar & Pipe, and it was an interesting experience to say the least! Enjoyed it with Friday and Clinton, and when you + 2 can’t come to a conclusion on how to describe it, you know it’s a cigar you need to take home and burn a couple more times.

Padron 1964 Review

This Padron 1964 has a few things going for it, namely draw and smoke. Normally I would think Padron is synonymous with perfect construction, but you can see the wrapper deficiencies. Lots of smoke and an incredibly easy draw are a plus though.

Don Chacho

A couple weeks ago I received a package with two Don Chacho stogies from Jose Santos, creator and owner. You can find him @Js.PremiumCigars on Instagram or hit him up here in the Cigar Noise community. Ever sense, I’ve been itching to pull them out of their rest period early and go to town! I resisted, much to my surprise, and now am ready to throw down!

Fuego Heat

So far I’m enjoying the hell out of this Fuego Heat. So much so that I’m willing to say Fuego Heat some more even though I’m baffled as to why J. Fuego would name something Fire Hot. Oh well, you make a cigar this damn good and you call it whatever you want!

CroMagnon Mode 5

Last week, I began my experience at Governor’s Cigar & Pipe the same way I do just about every time. I step into the humidor, take a deep breath, and then drool a little bit. Not overly much, but just the right amount of worship and inaptitude at being able to pick out just one of so many great smokes.

Camacho American Barrel Aged

Initially I thought it might be a little sweeter from the bourbon aging, but this Camacho American Barrel Aged is all about power! Like a muscle car, or a Rocky movie, or a Face Punch from Tyson!

Black Pearl Rojo

Today I’m reviewing the Black Pearl Rojo from La Perla Habana – a cigar that I’ve probably smoked 7-10 boxes of over the years. It’s consistently been a go-to smoke for along with some Nica Libre sticks, handy to give out or burn when you have a few minutes and just want something with a smooth draw and even burn.

CroMagnon Fomorian

The Domestic Engineer just joined me on the porch and she said this stogie smells different. Not good or bad, because according to her Cigar smoking isn’t an honored past time, but she can tell the CroMagnon Fomorian is unique. Whatever that’s worth to ya. 😉

Montecristo Espada

Here’s how I got saddled with this one: I walked into the humidor at my favorite Cigar lounge, and asked my favorite Bearded Ninja for something medium, complex, woodsy, and overall a badass follow-up. Said Bearded Ninja pointed directly to the Montecristo Espada, and it was game on.

Perdomo Lot 23

This Lot 23 had a sweet taste pre-light, and had a generally awesome and mature taste when blown through the noise. The ash held pretty well, the burn was nice and even, and the point where I wanted to put it away was about 70% through the stick.
