My Father Garcia y Garcia – Prelight
The Ecuadorian Habano Rosado is a gorgeous looking, slightly oily wrapper, leaving no doubt regarding its high quality. Thin veins and hardly any seams show that the most skilled Torcedors constructed this beauty. The cigar is packed firmly with no soft spots detected.
My Father modified their regular band for the Garcia & Garcia, displaying the Garcia Family at the top and Garcia & Garcia below the My Father heading. After applying a V-cut, the cold draw offers up sweet hay, spice, chocolate, and cedar.
My Father Garcia y Garcia – Smoking Experience
On first light, the Garcia & Garcia produces natural tobacco flavors and a subtle pepper note. I was expecting the usual blast of pepper from a My Father but was pleasantly surprised with a softer experience. After the first couple puffs, the tobacco is joined by chocolate, floral spice, citrus, and hints of cedar and earth. The pepper moves into the background after the first ten minutes. The chocolate in the first third comes and goes so subtly that, if I weren’t paying attention, I’d miss it completely.
The second third starts off very slow but is picking up as I move forward. The flavors are dull and difficult to discern but thankfully, it doesn’t continue in that direction indefinitely. Eventually, earth, chocolate, citrus, cedar, pepper, hints of baked bread, natural tobacco, and ginger are combining to develop authoritative complexity. The citrus and pepper are so intense that I am glad I have a sweet tea nearby to sip on, leaving a stinging sensation on my tongue that is very refreshing. For some this might be too much to handle.
The final third is my least favorite segment. Chocolate, floral spice, and citrus are prominent with cedar, pepper, and earth in the background. The flavors don’t balance each other well at all, and they fail to come together. I’m not sure why, considering it’s almost the same flavor profile as the previous thirds. Unfortunately the G&G continues on this path until only the nub is left. Throughout the entire cigar, the smoke output remained heavy, thick, and creamy white. Even while resting the smoke output was on the heavy side.
My Father Garcia y Garcia – Burn and Draw
The My Father Garcia & Garcia is the best constructed cigar I have ever smoked. HIgh quality cigars are what you expect from My Father, but this is the best I have seem from them. The burn line on the G&G was straight from start to finish without any touch-ups required. The draw was absolutely perfect with great temperature throughout. The ash was medium grey and very tight. The first ash did not fall off until about the 40-minute mark.
Family, sports, and music keep me going I'm always down to try new cigars!!
