Tatuaje The Jackal Review

Tatuaje released The Jackal in 2015 as an Exclusive Series cigar. This was my second encounter with this shaggy-footed cigar and I was excited to review it! Tatuaje produced 2000, ten count boxes of the cigar in the My Father Cigar factory in Esteli, Nicaraugua.

Villiger San’Doro Claro Review

Sporting a gorgeous Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, this cigar appears near perfect. The seams are difficult to see and the cap blends nicely with the light brown, caramel-colored wrapper. Scents from the wrapper are dry hay and sweet tobacco. From the foot I smell dry hay, wood scents and a little tingle of pepper.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Tiff

The hay from the pre-light inspection comes on strong right away, joined by creamy sweetness on the draw with light black pepper on the finish. The pepper quickly makes its way up front, delivering small amounts of pepper throughout the draw and finish. The finish has been dry on several of the Skinny Monsters; it’s particularly dry on the Tiff.

Crowned Heads The Angel’s Anvil 2016

At approximately half an inch in, the Angel’s Anvil 2016 opens up and begins firing on all cylinders. Sweet notes of honey, chocolate, and floral components are tempered with an earthy base and a peppery finish that lingers between puffs. Our previously effervescent quality is replaced by a creamy, rich smoke.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Chuck

With a big vein across the wrapper looking like a scar line, this cigar looks like Chucky, the monster it was named for. The cigar is quite a bit darker and more oily than Chucky though.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Hyde

The Skinny Hyde comes out of the gate with toasted almonds, pepper, hay, breadiness, a hint of earth, and a bit of lemon citrus. The lemon comes across in the mouth and is accentuated by the retrohale. Cedar flavor joins in, and it gets creamier after about an inch.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Jekyll

The Skinny Jekyll starts out with hay and cream notes. There’s a bit of spice on the end, but it’s nothing like the peppery start I’ve gotten from the other Skinny Monsters. It’s a much lighter start than I remember from the full-size Jekyll as well. There’s a sweet tobacco flavor, some light toasted almond, a lot of creaminess, and light cedar notes. The creamy notes are sweet, reminding me of cream soda.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Jason

Most of the Skinny Monsters have started with pepper blasts but the Jason was much milder at the beginning. There was black pepper, but it wasn’t the big blast I was expecting. Cocoa started weak and built through the first third along with a little bit of hay. Chocolate and cocoa came to dominate this third.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Mummy

I’m not sure if I’ve adequately described how rugged-looking the cigars of the Monster series are. I took this picture of the Mummy with better lighting and a clearer background to showcase how monster-like the cigars in this series look.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Face

The Face got a makeover in the Skinny Monster set. Previously, it had a jagged tobacco band. Now it sports a paper band like the rest of the Skinny Monsters. And gone is the somewhat-closed foot, replaced with a clean-cut foot. Face sold out and cleaned up his act in the Skinny series.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Drac

Overall, I’m loving how the bands look on the Skinny Monsters. They did a great job matching colors to wrappers & monster themes. It just wouldn’t be a monster without something a little rustic in the construction. My Drac has some imperfections on the edge of the wrapper.

Tatuaje Skinny Monsters: Frank

You won’t need to have a clear palate before smoking this cigar. It will cleanse your palate for you with huge amounts of strong pepper and spice starting off. There was a slight coffee taste in the background, but it started by smacking me with spice & pepper.

Ezra Zion Makin Bacon Toro Review

When I saw the release in their Ezra Zion app, I was fairly hesitant. Oak, as suggested in their description, isn’t my favorite cigar flavor and toro isn’t my favorite size. Then I saw Noel Rojas’ name as having personally rolled all of these and I knew it was inevitable. He worked with All My Exes and will forever have my gratitude.

Black Works Studio NBK Review

On First glance, the NBK is visually unique and appealing. The firm medium-brown body has a soft box press and a closed foot. Seams? What seams? This thing is flawlessly constructed. Topping it all off is a pleasant woody espresso aroma.

Ezra Zion Eminence Gran Robusto Review

If you’ve been following @cigarnoise on Instagram or in the CigarNoise app, you know that I’m loving Ezra Zion lately. Their cigars hit my palette of a palate like Doc Holliday at 10 meters. Rather than list out some Q&A from Chris and Kyle at the end of this post, I figure I’ll go ahead and drop it right here.

Crowned Heads’ Tennessee Waltz Review

I’m doing things a little bit differently today. Aside from being in a completely new Cigar Lounge (Silo Cigars in Knoxville, TN) I’m also doing this review on the fly. In fact, my first 1/2 of an inch on this Tennessee Waltz is already ash.

San Cristobal Ovation Review

Today we’ll be reviewing the San Cristobal Ovation with Clinton. Super stoked about it, and amped to be here with this outstanding BOTL to provide a well-rounded review for everyone! Clinton described the Ovation last week as his favorite cigar from this year’s IPCPR conference in July. Although I have mixed feelings for Ashton’s San Cristobal line, I’ve only heard great things regarding the Ovation.

Room 101 Johnny Tobacconaut Review

This is one of those cigars that, upon first glance, sends mixed signals. Do I smoke it, or tuck it away in a vault somewhere? To quote lccj from the CigarNoise app, do I ash it or stash it? The Johnny Tobacconaut screams quality while promising a couple plot twists – and yet only 3,500 boxes were produced.
